Do you know that the survival of humans and all life on earth will be determined by the preservation or destruction of the ecosystem? Are you aware that the drastic climate change is brought about by the destruction of the balance of the ecosystem? In order to preserve the earth’s environment we need to preserve the ecosystem.

But the question is, are we preserving the environment? What are the things we can do to help preserve our ecosystem? Here is a quick summary on how vital habitat is and how can we preserve it.

Joining the Green Movement

There are a lot of organizations out there, whether local, national or international level that are devoted to preserving the environment and all together they made up the “Green Movement”.

The Green Movement takes action to conserve the environment whenever a habitat is threatened by an industry or industrial development. They offer environmental services and help in environmental remediation. In addition, this movement enjoys considerable public support however education is their important work.

People cannot appreciate the importance of preserving habitats unless they understand how threats to the environment can impact them.

A lot of farmers are sympathetic to the Green movement in spite of the pressure to grow the maximum amount of food. There are some who make an effort to preserve small areas of woodland and hedgerow and make sure not to use pesticides in these areas. There are also those who have turned their backs on modern methods and ensure to avoid using chemicals.

Organic Farming

What is organic farming? It means farming without the use of chemicals. In most countries, organic produce has grown to be very popular. And since there are no chemicals used to grow the food, there are none to enter the human food chain. Moreover, opting for organic produce will also help the countryside.

Preserving the Rainforest

To save rainforest, there are actions that are taken up especially in developing countries. Just like in Africa, there is a banning of timber exports. The government of Panama in Central America made it illegal to cut down any tree which is more than five years old. Given the fact that timber exports have been a major source of income, such actions entail great determination.

The horrible truth is that it is really hard to persuade poor people in developing countries about the importance of saving the forest. If we don’t preserve our environment, sooner or later we will not be able to neither enjoy nature nor see the beauty of the Earth.
